Review of Ostelzzz (June 13–15)
A Disappointing Experience That Should Not Happen at a Hostel Like This
I stayed at Ostelzzz from June 13–15 and booked a Female Dorm for both nights. I chose to pay more than a mixed dorm for my own comfort and safety.
The first night went well—I got the room I booked. However, on the second night, when I came back, I was shocked to find that someone else had taken my bed and all of my belongings were gone! I went straight to reception, and the staff told me that my name had been moved to a mixed dorm without any prior notice or consent.
When I asked how many men and women were in the room, the staff couldn’t answer. They only said, “There are five people in the room, from different countries.”
Why would I need to know what countries they’re from? I wanted to know if there were any men in the room because I do not feel comfortable or safe sleeping in a mixed dorm—especially when I had paid extra for a female-only one.
In the end, I had to find another place to stay around midnight and ended up paying even more. It was exhausting, stressful, and extremely disappointing.
My question is: if I were okay with staying in a mixed dorm, why would I have paid more to book a female-only one? Why was I moved on the second night without any explanation or apology?
There was no responsibility taken and no apology given at all.
This experience left me extremely disappointed, and I do not recommend this hostel to anyone who values safety, comfort, or respect—especially solo female travelers.
